Saint-Georges Symphony 2

Joseph Bologne, the Chevalier de Saint-Georges, was the first classical composer of African ancestry. born in the French colony of Guadalupe, Joseph was moved to Paris where he was formally educated to be a gentleman.

During his lifetime, Joseph became the conductor of the leading orchestra in Paris, Le Concert Olympique, and composed a variety of orchestral, chamber, and stage works.

Among his many works, the Chevalier de Saint-Georges composed two symphonies. Symphony 2 is a short, three movement work that was also used as the overture for his opera, L'Amant Anonyme.
