Haydn Symphony 102

Haydn's two visits to London in 1791 and 1795 saw the composition and premieres of the twelve London Symphonies. This set of twelve masterworks is largely considered to be the highest achievement in 18th Century symphonic composition.

Symphony 102 is quite possibly Haydn's greatest symphonic achievement. Unfortunately, because it doesn't have a catchy nickname like "Clock" or "Drumroll", it tends to be less known, and worse, less performed than others. It is, however, filled with wonderful moments of beauty, power, and humor throughout and is instantly enjoyable.
