Haydn Symphony 101

Haydn's last twelve symphonies were composed for performances in London during his two residencies in 1791 and 1795. These twelve symphonies (numbers 93-104) are considered to be the greatest collection of symphonic works composed in the 18th Century.

Symphony 101 is nicknamed the "Clock" because of the tick-tock motif throughout the second movement. The "Clock" Symphony was an immediate success in London and has remained one of Haydn's most performed works ever since.
