Mozart's Bassoon Concerto was composed in 1774 when Mozart was 18 years old and still living in Salzburg. It was his first concerto for a wind instrument. It is believed that Mozart actually composed a total of five bassoon concerti but only his earliest survived.
Today, Mozart's Bassoon Concerto is the most performed concerto for bassoon and the core repertoire for any serious bassoonist.
