Beethoven Symphony 4

Beethoven's Symphony 4 was composed in 1806, premiered privately in 1807, and publicly the following year at the Bergtheater in Vienna. The symphony was commissioned by Count Franz von Oppersdorff from Oberglogau, which at the time was a town in the Prussian Empire.

Often overshadowed by the 3rd and 5th symphonies, Beethoven's 4th symphony contains many innovations characteristic of Beethoven's self described "new path". The overall mood of the symphony is cheerful with musical elements found in 18th century comic opera.
