Mozart Clarinet Concerto

Mozart's Clarinet Concerto was composed in October of 1791, two months before the composer's untimely death. It was his final completed orchestral work.

The basset clarinet for which the concerto is composed was developed in 1788 by Vienna's court instrument maker, Theodor Lotz with the input of clarinetist Anton Stadler.

Stadler was a clarinetist in the Viennese Royal Court and commissioned Mozart to compose the concerto.

Today, Mozart's Clarinet Concerto is the foundation of clarinet repertoire and is one of Mozart's most perfectly composed works.
