Mozart Piano Concerto 21

Mozart composed 27 numbered Piano Concerti which provided a great source of income during his residence in Vienna. Most of the concerti were performed as part of various subscription concerts that featured Mozart as the soloist.

The 21st Piano Concerto was composed for the 1785 season and rapidly became one of Mozart's most famous works.

MOZART IN VIENNA

All three movements of the concerto are bright, cheery, and instantly accessible to the listener. There is also a great deal of virtuosity in the piano part of the outer movements and a dreamlike middle movement that contains one of Mozart's most popular melodies.
