Mozart Oboe Quartet

In 1781, at the age of 25 Mozart was in Munich supervising the production and premiere of his opera Idomeneo. While there, he composed the oboe quartet for friend and oboe virtuoso Friedrich Ramm.

The Oboe Quartet in F Major is a staple of the chamber music repertoire and core music for oboists.

After a cheery first movement, the minor key second movement features a haunting oboe melody. The finale is a fast and bright rondo whose theme is based on the theme of the 1st movement.
