Mozart Symphony 1

Mozart composed Symphony 1 in 1764 at the age of 8 during his years traveling around Europe with his father on their Grand Tour. While in London, Mozart studied with Johann Christian Bach (the youngest son of Johann Sebastian Bach) who was at that time the music master for Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III.

MOZART IN 1764

Mozart's first symphony is a modest three movement work in the early classical sinfonia style. The second movement is almost entirely based on a hemiola pattern (mixing three beat and two beat patterns together). The finale is a quick dance in Rondo Form.
