Mozart Piano Concerto 20

Mozart's Piano Concerto 20 is on the very short list of greatest piano concerti ever composed, and was written during Mozart's peak years in Vienna.

The first of only two minor key piano concerti by Mozart (the other being number 24), the Piano Concerto 20 was a favorite of the next generation of composers and performers including Beethoven, Brahms, and Clara Schumann, all of whom composed cadenzas for the work.

Premiered in Vienna during the winter of 1785, Mozart's Piano Concerto 20 features a dark restless first movement in D minor.

The second movement omits the trumpets and timpani to present a peaceful rondo. The finale is a hybrid sonata rondo in D minor which suddenly switches to D Major for the upbeat coda.
