Rococo Design

The Rococo style of design and architecture began in France during the reign of Louis XV and quickly spread throughout the rest of Europe.

The heroic and emotionally exuberant Baroque style that preceded Rococo evolved into a style that was lighter, more frivolous, and charming. Grand and majestic reds and purples gave way to more refined pastels and elegant whites.

Buildings in the Rococo style were smaller in scale and featured curved lines as found in seashells and flowers. Interior rooms were designed for elegant conversation and pleasure.
